The World Institute for Development Economics Research of the United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) asked Isandla Institute to coordinate the logistics for the regional workshop 'Beyond the Tipping Point: African Development in an Urban World', which took place on 26-28 June 2008 in Cape Town. This was a regional (Africa) event within the context of a global project, directed by Jo Beall, Ravi Kanbur and Basudeb Guha-Khasnobis. The workshop brought together about 40 researchers and practitioners from across the world.
